Root Beer BBQ Ribs

I am more of a baker than a cook and I prefer chicken to beef but this Root Beer BBQ Ribs is one recipe that I just have to share. It came from one of the Taste of Home recipe books I bought at the grocery store. I checked their website and it is no longer posted. The credit goes to Mairyn S. from Sandy, Utah…so thanks Mairyn. The secret is the root beer as it soaks into the ribs while slow cooking and give them a fantastic taste.

Here is what you will need…
Mosty I measure but do adlib at time
1 cup root beer

1 cup ketchup
¼ cup orange juice
3 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 Tablespoons molasses
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon ground ginger
½ teaspoon paprika
4-1/2 pounds pork baby back ribs
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper

In a small saucepan, combine the first 10 ingredients. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes or until the sauce is reduced to 2 cups. Set aside.

Cut ribs in five serving-size pieces; sprinkle with salt and pepper. Place in a 5 or 6 quart slow cooker. I always spray the inside of the crock pot with PAM
Pour sauce over the ribs.

Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or until the meat is tender.

Serve with the sauce

Enjoy!!!

Nana's Girl is Crafty & Cute

This Nana just has to brag about her little Lucy who turns 18 months old this week. Not only is she the cutest little granddaughter ever, she has a crafty side too. Look at what Lucy made for her Nana.

I had seen this craft on pinterest and wanted to try it but I had no idea that Lucy was interested in it too. I think she did a great job!

Besides crafting, we played outside just like Nana did when she was a little girl. We blew bubbles, climbed a tree, and acted silly.

Fun Times!

a few of my favorite things

I've been a bit under the weather this week leaving me a day shy of a project post. I try to post a minimum of five per week.  This motivates me to keep the creative juices flowing. They are still flowing but a little slow this week.  I hope to be back on track in a few days so please bear with me.

While forcing myself to rest I started thinking about a few of my favorite things. Of course I have more than a few but here’s what came to mind, (with some links if you want to find out more).

Enjoy!

My favorite is Pumpkin Vanilla.

This is a pic of me reading to the kids at Lucy’s first birthday party.
Ok, I know…I get a little carried away.

These are great for keeping your floors clean when working out in the yard.
I keep them at the door and slip them on over my dirty shoes when I need to enter the house.
