PB Knock Off - Mercury Glass Lamps

A successful trip in more ways than one!

This past week we made a trip to Ohio. The reason for the trip was not to shop but what's a girl to do when her husband wants to take a nap. During my shopping adventure I came across Marcs, a local grocery, drug store and chain retail store all in one. In their Closeout Department I came across these two lamps for $5.99 each.

I have been wanting to do a knock-off of these Pottery Barn lamps...

....so, using Krylon Looking Glass Mirror Like Paint
and the same technique previously used to make a Mercury Glass Vase (HERE), I created two new lamps for about $18.00.

Oh yea...it is really hard to take a picture of a mirrored object, LOL.

Thanks for visiting,

UPDATE: THIS PROJECT WAS FEATURE ON....

  6. Happy to have found your blog. Love these lamps. I have a glass lamp that I would love to do this technique, but first I'm going to try it on a vase. You know trial and error.

    1. Thanks for visiting. As shown on my blog, I tried it on something small first too. The paint is a bit pricey and not that easy to find in my area so I am stingy with how and when I use it.

  13. Please tell me.... on the lamps did you get the paint on the inside..... the top looks too skinny. I have a lamp I want to do however I don't think I can get the paint on the inside even if I tried. Your not the first lamp I have seen with a very narrow top that has been mirrored however I cannot figure out if you sprayed the outside or had a trick to getting it inside the lamp. Thank you... I will be waiting for your answer.

    1. Hello and thank you for visiting my site. If you scroll back through the photos you will see how the lamp looked before I spray painted it. There is a large hole at the bottom so I was able to maneuver my hand and the can so that the top (skinny part) was covered. If you have a hole in the bottom of yours that is smaller you might want to try spraying a larger amount while the lamp is upside down and then rotate to cover. Hope this helps...good luck!
